From November 17 to 22 is scheduled for the Book Fair in Montreal and we have chosen to make a jump to the fair instead of taking sides on either side of Rue St.Catherine along which the fashion show was held from 11:00 to Pere Noel, a parade of floats with music and animation that repeats itself from 60 years to the delight of children and the desperation of the pediatricians (if you find them). Abstract: in the following lines I shall refer only my personal experience, that at the attainment of a permanent resident visa in Quebec as a Skilled worker with accompanying family (wife and two children under the age 6 to years).
In the two years (from February 2008 in July 2010 ) preparation of the dossier, sending documents, site visits and obtaining a visa, we crossed a desert of doubts, fears, concerns and uncertainties often related to the absolute lack of feed-back.

R. to be a permanent resident in Quebec you must first obtain a certificate of selection (CSQ, see the post-specific) of Quebec, and then apply for permanent visa to the Federal Government. I know people who have applied for Federal and Quebec come in, but do not know the procedure, nor that it was seen, neither of which practices were followed.
D. How long does it take to get a visa?
R. not less than a year and a half after the sending of documents to BIQ `Paris.
D. I have to go to a consultant / adviser or I can do it all alone?
R. You can do it all alone. The sites of the Quebec Ministry of Immigration and the Embassy are well organized and complete. They are only in French and English (except that of 'Embassy in Italy that still refers to documents in different languages). You can go to a counselor / advocate, but beware of `reliability, experience and cost.

R. No. If you are in Rome or the surrounding area and want to ride all `visa office in Via Zara, without great expectations or hopes of direct information, preference or novelty, the expense is minimal and the lack of response may be just annoying.
